  • Reviewed system upgrade needs. Evaluated and selected a multi-user, multi- plant manufacturing management/accounting system and associated computer networks for this job-shop manufacturer of computer cable assemblies for the electronics industry. Reviewed and selected new telephone systems and services.

Stamping company:

  • Reviewed system upgrade needs. Evaluated and selected a multi-user manufacturing management/accounting system for this job-shop manufacturer of high-precision stamped parts for the automotive and electronics industries. Reviewed and selected new telephone system.

Aircraft parts manufacturer:

  • Reviewed system upgrade needs. Evaluated and selected a multi-user manufacturing management/accounting system for this job-shop manufacturer of high-precision loose gears and gear assemblies for the aerospace industry.

Electonic components manufacturer:

  • Analyzed computer and voice networking needs for a company-wide local area network and a telephone system with links to accounting/data processing and computer-aided design systems in Phoenix and overseas manufacturing and sales locations. Conducted evaluation and selection, and monitored implementation of cable plant, local area computer network (LAN) of over 100 computers and telephone systems in Phoenix. Project completed and all systems installed and operational in time to meet tight deadline for move to new facilities.

Manufacturer of electro-mechanical systems:

  • Reviewed and prepared analysis of an internal project to evaluate multi-user, multi- plant, multi-company manufacturing management/accounting systems for this job-shop manufacturer of traffic control systems.

Distribution

Construction products distributor:

  • Evaluated inventory management, operations and accounting needs for a ceramic tile distribution company. Selected multi-user distribution management system and assisted with selection of associated network.

Chemical industry supplies distributor:

  • Evaluated inventory management, operations and accounting needs for a distributor of fluid flow control products used in the chemical and related industries. Selected multi-user distribution management system and assisted with selection of associated network.

Air conditioning parts and supplies wholesaler:

  • Assisted with the review or an existing mainframe system and evaluation of alternative systems. Evaluated and selected a multi-user multi-plant distribution management/accounting system.

Construction and Finance

Swimming pool builder / pool supplies retailer:

  • Evaluated accounting needs for this large pool construction and pool products retailing company. Assisted in selection of software to replace existing self- developed application on an existing multi-user computer system.

Real estate developer and syndicator:

  • Evaluated construction, multi-entity accounting, and property management
    needs for this major developer and operator of apartment complexes. Evaluated and selected network-based and multi-user computer systems, including on-site systems for the individual properties.

Financial services firm:

  • Reviewed lending and loan management needs for this secured lending and factoring company. Selected network-based system and associated local area network and expedited implementation in time to accomplish office relocation.

Professional services

Large law firm:

  • Specified requirements for firm-wide office automation system with links to accounting/data processing systems. Assisted in acquisition and implementation of linked local area networks of over 300 computers in Phoenix and Tucson. Analyzed needs for replacement of accounting and data processing systems. Project completed in time to meet deadline for move to new facilities.

Mid-size law firm:

  • Specified requirements for firm-wide practice management system and office network. Selected and expedited implementation of both systems, including a local area networks of over 150 computers.

Mid-size advertising agency:

  • Specified requirements for the selection of an intranet for firm-wide information access and PC/Macintosh communications with and internet link for outside e- mail and communications. Assisted in the selection of the an single vendor capable of implementing the intranet and internet capabilities.

Mid-size law firm:

  • Specified requirements for firm-wide office automation system with links to accounting/data processing systems. Assisted in acquisition and implementation of linked local area networks of over 300 computers in Phoenix and Palo Alto. Project completed in time to meet deadline for move to new facilities.

Personal injury law firm:

  • Evaluated needs for case management for this high-volume plaintiff's firm.
    Selected network-based software and associated local area network and expedited implementation in time for office relocation.

Mid-size C.P.A. firm:

  • Specified requirements for firm-wide office automation system with links to accounting/data processing systems. Assisted in acquisition and implementation of local area networks of over 150 computers. Telephone system and voice mail design and procurement for new facility. Voice/data cable system design and procurement. Computer room layout and design. Project completed in time to meet deadline for move to new facilities.

Medical practices:

  • Evaluated practice management needs for a large number of small to mid-size
    medical practices in many different specialty areas, including internal medicine, pediatrics, mental health, radiology, dentistry, etc. Selected multi-user and network-based systems, including some multi-office systems, to meet specific needs and monitored successful implementation.

Public and Non-commercial

High school district:

  • Analysis of office automation, business, data and voice communications needs for District-wide networks throughout two campuses and District office, including wide area links. Preparation of a Technology Infusion Plan for the District. Recommendation for implementation of hardware/software systems to handle academic/ administrative, accounting, electronic mail, library, maintenance and office automation needs. Voice/Data network and cable system design and procurement, including integration of pre-existing mid- range computer systems and networks as appropriate. The implemented District-wide network now features full integration of IBM-compatible PCs and Apple Macintosh computers at all levels, microwave and fiber-optic links, District-wide access to databases on magnetic disk and CD-ROM and inbound/outbound data communications capability with all appropriate security
    provisions.

Membership organizations:

  • Several assignments with trade associations and other corporate-oriented
    membership organizations. Evaluated membership management, event management, dues collection, data base management, publishing and accounting requirements. Selected multi-user and/or network-based systems and associated local area networks (when applicable) and expedited implementation.

Regional headquarters for church organization:

  • Analyzed need for upgrade to the main office and parochial school administrations systems for office automation and accounting. Acted as an expert witness and consultant against a former vendor of administrative software for the school administration. Participated in management committee monitoring ongoing progress of new system development.

Major city transit system operating company:

  • Analyzed data processing resources and requirements. Prepared detailed system acquisition specifications for network, minicomputer and mainframe systems and assisted in the acquisition of those systems for which government funding approval was received.

Mid-size city government:

  • Analyzed office automation and other data processing systems. Prepared long term plan recommending implementation of city-wide local and wide area networks (LANs and WAN), and specifying network architecture to integrate with existing centralized computing systems.

County housing authority:

  • Reviewed previously installed computer systems and application software.
    Negotiation with existing vendors to remedy identified system deficiencies. Analyzed needs and prepared requirements document for replacement of previously installed computer.
